Watch: Aiden McGeady scores 25-yard screamer on Preston debut

Every so often Aiden McGeady reminds us that he's actually quite a talented footballer.

The Republic of Ireland winger has struggled for form, fitness and playing time over the past two years, and found himself without a squad number at Everton during the summer. It was clear Ronald Koeman didn't see a place for him in his squad, and the 30-year-old joined Championship side Preston North End on a season long loan deal on the final day of the transfer window. McGeady's performances with Celtic as a young player suggested he was capable of developing into a top class player, capable of consistently influencing games. That now appears unlikely to happen, but the winger reminded us of his talents with a goal on his debut for Preston on Saturday. McGeady collected the ball outside Barnsley's penalty area, and struck a well-hit effort past former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.

McGeady's goal levelled the score at 1-1, but Barnsley striker Adam Armstrong, on-loan from Newcastle United, decided the game with a brilliant piece of skill and a nice finish.
