God bless Andrea Pirlo. The guy is a living legend but he isn't going to change for anyone.
New York City pulled off something of a coup in convincing the 36-year-old to play out the twilight years of his career in MLS, and they pay him handsomely for the honour. For that they get prestige, press and plenty of peerless passing from the Prince of Playmaking. What they don't get is perspiration. It's kind of why we love Andrea - he does what he does and little else, and it has always been more than enough. His allergy to defensive graft was perfectly apparent when defending his post during NYCFC's defeat to New England Revolution. A cross came in to opposing midfielder Kelyn Rowe, who met it forcefully with his head. The ball flashed towards Pirlo's upright and all he had to do was jump. Or react in some way.
