It may only be September, but we already have a contender for miss of the season that the worst cloggers in the league will struggle to match.

Poor old Odion Ighalo looked like he was going to open the scoring for Watford early in the first half against a slow starting Manchester Unite at Vicarage Road. Jose Mourinho's United looked out of sorts early in the game and a defensive mix-up allowed Ighalo - who bagged 17 goals last season - to bear down on goal, ready to hand the Hornets an early lead in the match. BT Sport's commentator Darren Fletcher was already forming his mouth into the correct position to shout "IGHALO 1-0!" but then... he missed. This image from BT Sport host Jake Humphrey shows just how bad it was: https://twitter.com/mrjakehumphrey/status/777467046758064133 The defence has gone AWOL, David de Gea is on his knees, the goal is gaping... and he puts it wide. Naturally the Twitter collective was typically sympathetic to Ighalo's plight. https://twitter.com/Ricottaboy/status/777466541289996288 https://twitter.com/OffsideRulePod/status/777466509891436544 Good point. Remember when he was going to be the answer to an increasingly panicked Louis van Gaal? https://twitter.com/GlauberBerty/status/777466475472887809 Won't somebody think of the real victims in all this: the fantasy football players? https://twitter.com/OfficialFPL/status/777466441486438408 https://twitter.com/lyallr/status/777466408632455168 https://twitter.com/takitam/status/777466339648794624

*Conspiracy theory alert*

But is there another twist in this one? Did he actually miss on purpose because he's a United fan? (Answer: no he didn't). https://twitter.com/JohnBennettBBC/status/777460304187912192
