Tony Adams not sure Thierry Henry will make it in the dugout

Tony Adams believes that Thierry Henry is far from a sure thing when it comes to management.

The recently-retired Arsenal striker is turning his hand to punditry but has previously indicated he would like to try coaching. But former Gunners captain Adams, who knows all about the pitfalls of management after disappointing spells with Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth, has warned Henry not to expect success. "Just because he's one of the best players to ever play the game doesn't mean he's going to be a great coach or manager," Adams told Goal.com. "Thierry is a great man but he's not even started in the coaching profession yet. I was with Jose Mourinho at Inter, and he said to me that I was 10 or 20 years behind. Whilst I was winning all of those trophies with Arsenal, he was learning how to be a coach." Adams is also dubious of another Arsenal striker's management potential, claiming current Ajax assistant Dennis Bergkamp's fear of flying will limit his ambitions. "What will get in the way for Dennis is his flying,' the 48-year-old said. "It'll be difficult for him to go any higher because he's adamant he'll never get on a plane again."
