Sunday March 26, 2017: a day when mums everywhere should be appreciated for all that they do.
But, as good as our mums are, very few of them are capable of producing spectacular last-ditch goalmouth blocks in stoppage time of crunch League One matches between two teams vying for promotion.
In recognition of this, we'd like to also like to show our appreciation to Scunthorpe's Murray Wallace this Mother's Day. Not by buying him a card and a bunch of flowers (although you can if you want to), but just by asking you to take a few seconds out of your day to admire what he did in stoppage time of the game against Bradford City.
With Wallace's side going 3-2 ahead with eight minutes of regulation time to be played, the defender found himself on his backside as his teammates partially cleared a Bradford set piece. With the ball lobbed back towards the edge of the Scunthorpe six-yard box, it seemed a certainty that one of the waiting Bradford players would have the simple task of nodding the ball home for an equaliser.
Seeing the danger and knowing full well that he'd not have enough time to get back to his feet, Wallace improvised. He stuck out his left leg, somehow managing to get his foot to the ball and divert it over his own crossbar. Incredible.

Scunthorpe were able to hang on to their lead, enough to see them move ahead of Bradford in the table.
