Despite becoming the first Asian player to score a Premier League hat-trick, Kagawa struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Old Trafford and was eventually sold back to Dortmund by Louis van Gaal in 2014.
His limited playing time this season has seen plenty of rumours that he would leave the Bundesliga leaders in January, with Kagawa confirming his interest in a move to Spain two months ago. Though a transfer to LaLiga has failed to materialise, it does now appear that he will join Monaco imminently.
