Seamus Coleman demands more from ‘nowhere near good enough’ Everton

Everton right-back Seamus Coleman has demanded more from his Everton teammates following the Toffees 2-1 loss at Burnley on Saturday.

Burnley had not won in 11 matches heading into the first match of the weekend, and after Cenk Tosun gave Everton the lead after 20 minutes, Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood both scored in the second-half to put an end to Burnley's winless drought. Wood's match winner was particularly poor from an Everton perspective as the striker was found lurking at the back post unmarked to finish past Jordan Pickford in goal. Coleman said that Everton crumbled in the second-half and that they needed to start winning games quickly as they sit just seven points above the relegation zone. "We came here knowing they hadn’t won in a while, and we got a great start. But it was nowhere near good enough to crumble like we did and something we really need to sort out and start winning games very quickly," said Coleman post-match. "We should be coming here, especially with the form they were in, looking for three points. And we didn’t get that so we’re all very disappointed. But it needs to change very quickly. "Individually we weren’t good enough. And Burnley were getting second balls when we should have been challenging them. "All in all it wasn’t good enough by us and there’s no excuse for that and we know that we have to do better. "We need to show some desire first and foremost and show that we want it. We need to work harder than the opposition and today I don’t think we did that." Saturday's defeat marked Coleman's 250th game in an Everton jersey and his first start since returning from a thigh injury.
