The clip was posted by La Opinion and although the Cameroon legend seemed to get a clean strike, the fan did appear to be severely injured.
The 41-year-old forward retired from football in 2019 but actually spent the latter stage of his career in the host nation, playing for Qatar SC.
Eto'o would have been at the World Cup to cheer on his home country Cameroon, who, despite beating Brazil in the last round of the group stages, were eliminated before the knockout rounds.
The legendary striker is most famously known for his time in Barcelona, where he won every domestic trophy available to him, but there has been evidence of him being difficult before.
