In the days following the defeat, Sky Sports News caught up with Roy Keane, and a clip has re-emerged of his take on the England squad.
Keane, who was managing Ipswich Town at the time, was asked why England's players had failed to replicate their club form for their country. The former Manchester United captain disputed the idea that England's players had been impressive for their clubs in the season before the World Cup. He went through each player in the England team individually and concluded that none of them, apart from James Milner, had played well for their clubs before the tournament. It is vintage Roy Keane.
The Irishman will be at the 2018 World Cup working as a pundit for ITV, so we can look forward to more of this in the coming weeks.
