Raheem Sterling would have been relishing the chance to prove that he had made the right decision in leaving Anfield in the summer.

But then the first half happened. Jurgen Klopp's side got started early against Manchester City and Sterling found his new team trailing 3-0 to the side who he unceremoniously departed for almost €70 million.
