Premier League sell TV rights deal for whopping £5.136 billion for three years

We have to say that the big winners here are the Premier League, who have pocketed a huge sum of cash

Among the broadcasters, Sky Sports are the big winners after they obtained the premium packages in the whopping new £5.136 billion (€6.9 billion) three-year deal. Sky have secured packages A, C, D, E, and G totalling 126 matches a season, while BT Sport have secured packages B and F totalling 42 matches a season. The new package commences from 2016/17 for three seasons and will see 10 live matches broadcast on Friday nights for the first time in Premier League history. Sky Sports will also show matches on Saturday afternoons, Sunday afternoon and Monday night, while BT Sport will show games on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes. Overall Sky will show 126 matches a season from 2016/17 (a rise of eight on their current deal) and BT Sport will show 42, four more than the current deal. When Sky first obtained live rights to the Premier League they paid £190m (€255m) per season. Now, thanks to the combination of various packages and multiple bidders, the Premier League are netting £1.46billion a season (Just under €2billion). The deal, just announced this evening, splits up the games into seven different packages and here is who got who, and how much they paid.
