People mocked Jamie Redknapp’s weird prediction for Manchester United vs Arsenal – but he’s had the last laugh

Jamie Redknapp is an easy target - which makes mocking him all the more fun.

Sky viewers were presented with just such an opportunity on Saturday when he was asked for his prediction for the big Manchester United vs Arsenal match.

Some of the in-studio pundits had been somewhat coy about giving their view, so Jamie was told not to sit on the fence with his opinion.

"I'm not going to sit on the fence," he replied. "I'm going to go for a draw here today."

Even better for Jamie is that after all that, the result WAS a draw. So far from being a bland, cliche machine, he's actually the most incisive and enlightening pundit in sport. Well done Jamie. He was not impressed however, with the contribution of Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford. "I’m a big fan of Marcus Rashford but I don’t think he does well enough at all," he told Sky Sports after the match.

"When the manager entrusts you to play in a left-hand side role, whether you’re a centre forward or not you’ve got to do better. "First of all he doesn’t get out to Chamberlain quick enough. He lets him run at him and pick up pace. That is the wrong body shape, he gets beaten miles too easy. "When you’re hanging on for dear life to win a game, I think that’s poor play. "I think Marcus Rashford didn’t do enough and I’ll be amazed if [Jose Mourinho is] not telling him that in the dressing room. "Whatever position you play in the pitch, when you’re hanging on for a win with two or three minutes to go, you’ve got to do a job for your team and he didn’t do it. "He let his team down there."
