Scholes' last game was a 2-0 defeat to Lincoln City.
Paul Scholes has left his position as manager of Oldham Athletic after just over a month in charge of the League Two club.
Scholes took over at Boundary Park on February 11 and has managed the club for just seven games, in which they won one game, drew three and lost three.
A statement released by Scholes said: "It is with great regret that I have decided to leave the club with immediate effect."
"I hoped to at the very least see out my initial term of 18 months as the manager of a club I've been a supporter all my life. The fans, players, my friends and family all knew how proud and excited I was to take this role.
"I wish the fans, the players and the staff - who have been tremendous - all the best for the seasonandd I will continue to watch and support the club as a fan."
