Parma release beautiful remake of their iconic 1998-99 home shirt

If you're old enough to remember the Football Italia years on Channel 4 - and frankly, if you aren't, we feel a little bit sorry for you - you'll almost certainly hold a special place in your heart for the Parma team of the late 1990s. While AC Milan and Juventus were the more dominant forces of that particular decade in Serie A, Parma, backed by the riches of the Parmalat dairy company, more than held their own - narrowly missing out on the title to Juve by just two points in 1997. Their finest season, however, came in 1998-99. Though they only finished fourth in the league, they finished that campaign with a Uefa Cup and Coppa Italia double. The team was stuffed full of familiar faces, too: Gianluigi Buffon, Diego Fuser, Lilian Thuram, Juan Sebastian Veron, Hernan Crespo, Dino Baggio, Fabio Cannavaro and Faustino Asprilla. Parma may have endured a few turbulent times since (they were declared bankrupt in 2015 before returning to the top flight in 2018 after three consecutive promotions) but still fondly look back on season 1998-1999. To commemorate one of the club's most successful campaigns, Parma have now released a special remake shirt inspired by the iconic jersey worn by the club's players during that particular season.
