One English journalist thinks Robbie Keane needs to know his place after Gerrard’s LA arrival

This is a strange stance to take. Since arriving in LA in 2011, Robbie Keane has proved himself to be the MLS's best ever import, leading LA Galaxy to three MLS Cup's behind his many key goals. Keane's leadership skills saw him made the club's captain, although one English journalist thinks he needs to now understand that this is Steven Gerrard's team. Stevie G has been in LA for about two seconds but writing in the Telegraph, Chris Bascombe says that Keane needs to know his place now that England's Churchillian leader has arrived in Hollywood.

"Seeing him [Gerrard] standing in the players’ tunnel a few yards behind his new captain [Keane] carried a certain novelty value, but he will be in the compromise and etiquette following stage at LA," Bascombe writes. "Even Robbie Keane must recognise the real chief in that dressing room during the most competitive MLS games. The further back you make a born leader stand behind you, the greater the size of their shadow."

So despite leading the club to three titles, and proving throughout his career that he is a strong captain, Keane must now defer to England's white knight.
