The former Ireland manager helped them earn promotion to the Premier League in 1996 and they won the League Cup twice in his four years at the club.
O'Neill left Leicester to manage Celtic in 2000 and has been out of management since 2019, when he had a brief spell with Nottingham Forest.
The Derry native was Ireland manager between 2013 and 2018, when Roy Keane was his assistant and they helped the national team reach Euro 2016.
