Prior to the weekend, he had scored two winners in the last two games, but a lot of his own fans are thoroughly sick of him.

Despite netting seven times in his fledgling Anfield career, in a side very much in transition, Christian Benteke is leaving many Liverpool supporters utterly dismayed by his languid performances. His standing was not helped by a particularly off-colour display in the Merseyside club's 2-0 defeat by West Ham, where he was overshadowed by Andy Carroll, the ghost of Scouse dismay past. In fairness to Benteke, even those who are scathing of his performances tend to admit that he has his attributes, but that they are perhaps not compatible to Jurgen Klopp's style of play.
