Another frustrating Premier League campaign doesn't look to be making any impact on Manchester United's ability to secure lucrative sponsorship deals.
With advertising on the sleeves of top flight club shirts permitted from next year, we told you a couple of weeks ago how Manchester City had agreed a deal with Nexen Tire that is said to be worth £5m-per-season.
Following this, it's now being reported that United are close to tying up a contract for their own sleeve sponsorship, with companies from America, China and the Middle East said to be involved in a bidding war. As a result, it's believed the club could earn £20m a season from the new deal - four times that of City's Nexen Tire sponsorship.
“The United shirt is one of world football’s iconic jerseys," a source told The Mirror. "There are several interested parties and talks are on-going.”
United already have a lucrative £370m sponsorship deal with Chevrolet, whose logo appears as their main shirt sponsor. They also have a contract with Aon, the club's last shirt sponsors, which sees the company's logo appear on their training wear.
