Manchester United to rename Old Trafford South Stand in honour of club legend

About time.

Alex Ferguson has a whole section of Old Trafford dedicated to him and rightly so for his exploits over his near thirty-year career at the club. And this morning it has been confirmed by the club that an ex-playing legend will have a similar honour bestowed upon him. Bobby Charlton is widely regarded as one of the best footballers of the last 100 years, and the 1966 World Cup winner is now set to have the current ‘South Stand’ renamed in his honour as the ‘Sir Bobby Charlton Stand’. https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/699181852008042498 Charlton is regarded as an icon at the club, having joined in 1953, scoring a record 249 goals for the club. Now a director at the club Charlton will most likely have had to approve the renaming.
