The irony isn't lost on many football supporters; Paul Scholes, famously the one to shy away from the limelight and controversy in his playing days, can't seem to shut up spouting off his opinions in his role as a pundit.

While many Manchester United supporters appear to have quietly agreed with his criticism of Louis van Gaal, plenty have been irked by his comments about 19-year-old Anthony Martial. Coming in the same week that Scholes suggested Bastian Schweinsteiger needed to do more for his former club, the former Man United midfielder claimed that Martial didn't seem bothered if he missed a chance. Although Scholes' reputation as a club legend will mean that some agree with his assessment of Martial, his comments have drawn lots of criticism from United supporters on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Reginaldmakori8/status/669858799348527104 https://twitter.com/ManutdStat/status/669835203922288640 https://twitter.com/pgyabs1/status/669874110793711616 https://twitter.com/carrick_fan/status/669874011158028288 https://twitter.com/abacino007/status/669870266491805696 https://twitter.com/sasromeo/status/669874064173961216
