Man United and Liverpool kept apart for ages as Premier League fixtures released

Unai Emery will have one hell of a tough start as Arsenal manager.

The Premier League has announced its fixtures and provisional dates for the 2018/19 season. The opening day of the season has the whopper clash between Arsenal and their tormentors from last season, the champions Manchester City. As if that is not enough, the Gunners then travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on match-week two. Liverpool and Manchester United start off with home ties, against West Ham and Leicester City respectively, while newly promoted Championship winners Wolves host Everton. https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/1007170777165152256 United and Liverpool fans often look out for their side's upcoming clashes at Anfield and Old Trafford whenever fixtures are announced and today is surely no different. The old rivals will not meet until game-week 17. Jose Mourinho will take his United side to Anfield and everyone will be hoping for more excitement than last year's 0-0 draw [barring a David De Gea wonder-save] provided. United's first big test will be the visit of Spurs to Old Trafford on August 25, while Jurgen Klopp's side are away to the Londoners on September 15. Man City face Huddersfield, Wolves, Newcastle, Fulham, Cardiff and Brighton after their opening game so expect Pep Guardiola's side to have amassed close to 20 points by the time they visit Anfield in early October. The league starts at the scandalously early date of Saturday, August 11 but the games will be spaced out so that there will only be four games played by the start of September [no midweek league fixtures].
