A major Premier League outfit has withdrawn from the race to sign sought-after Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.
Linked with the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Bayern Munich, the 22-year-old is likely to be on the move this summer.
However, as per Sami Mokbel of BBC Sport, it is understood that Pep Guardiola's City have cooled their interest in the attacking midfielder.
It is estimated that a deal to sign the former Bundesliga title-winner would cost up to a whopping 300 million Euros, including transfer fees and wages.
This would result in the biggest deal in City's history, a fee which the club are not willing to pay.
The FA Cup finalists have expressed their ability to walk away in the past too, through cooling interest in the likes of Jorginho, Frenkie de Jong and Fred, before signing Rodri in 2019.
A decision to withdraw from Wirtz should also come as a positive to Phil Foden, BBC Sport understands.
Foden can be seen as the successor to the legendary departing Kevin De Bruyne in the creative midfield role.
