Dani Carvajal’s message to hospitalised Luke Shaw was a nice touch

Just as Luke Shaw was looking to be the top-class left back that Manchester United thought they had signed from Southampton, he picked up a bad head blow and was stretchered from the Wembley pitch. Shaw's decent start to the season with United carried on into England duty after his recall by Gareth Southgate. He also found time, in the hospital, to have a back-and-forth with Carvajal. The Real Madrid star, according to Marca, went straight to the England dressing room after the game to get the latest on Shaw.

'Carvajal asked David de Gea, Shaw's teammate at Old Trafford, for his phone number and he sent him a message soon after. Luke himself responded kindly to Carva, knowing that there was never a bad intention, only a collision caused by them contesting a 50/50 ball.'

It is unlikely that Shaw will feature in England's Tuesday night friendly with Switzerland due to concussion precautions and return to play protocols. Southgate is expected to make as many as nine changes to his starting XI, with Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray both expected to be called up to the senior squad for that game.
