And after a collision with Shane Long in the defeat to Southampton, Matteo Darmian has also joined the Manchester United injury list. According to the Mirror, Louis van Gaal was asked by a journalist in the wake of the loss if he would consider a move for Ashley Cole. The former Arsenal and Chelsea left back had been at Roma last season before recently leaving the Italian capital. Van Gaal showed the journalist exactly what he thought about the suggestion, by playfully slapping the journalist in the face.
