They've got hardly any players, no their manager left just weeks before the start of the season and they've been tipped by almost everyone for relegation.

But that didn't stop Hull City from stunning Leicester, taking the lead and eventually winning the first match of the 2016/17 season. It was the first time in Premier League history - 24 seasons - that the champions have lost on the opening day of the season. As the first half was drawing to a close, the Tigers pounced in injury time to give themselves the lead at the KCOM Stadium. It was surely the first time the Dubious Goals Committee were asked to consult on a double overhead kick. At first it was awarded to Abel Hernandez, but replays proved Adama Diomande was actually the man who had kicked off the new season's goal tally. https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/764437805095346176 Immediately after the break the champions hit back to equalise from a penalty when Riyad Mahrez scored from the spot. https://twitter.com/SkySportsStatto/status/764441556837367809 Hull would not be kept down though, and Robert Snodgrass restored the Tigers' lead with a wonderful strike into the bottom corner. 2-1 and Jamie Redknapp was already calling it a Leicester "blip" on Sky Sports. Cue and entirely accurate chant from the Hull fans about them being top of the league. Exclusive interview with Paraic Duffy on the latest GAA Hour. Subscribe here on iTunes.
