Despite being declared fit and ready to go by the Manchester United boss, the Armenian international is not set to feature in his side's Europa League tie at Old Trafford this evening.
Mkhitaryan, signed for £27m from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, has only started once for United and made another four appearances off the bench. He picked up an injury on international duty and has not featured for his new club for over a month.
The United squad assembled at The Lowry Hotel earlier today and there was no sign of Mkhitaryan. Without game time against the Turkish side there is little chance of the 27-year-old getting much of a look in in Sunday's visit to Stamford Bridge.
Anthony Martial was pictured entering the hotel where the team will have their pre-match meal.
While Mourinho may have gone back on his word - that Mkhitaryan was fit and ready to play - Luke Shaw was at the hotel and is expected to start after featuring off the bench in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool.
Here is the full United squad that assembled earlier today:

Tweaking your team before match-days, choosing your skipper, a league with all your mates, and then seeing that one player on X that somehow triple-captained the Brentford left-back that somehow got a hat-trick. But this year, […]
