Jose Mourinho hits back at ‘worst manager in Premier League history’ following Rashford criticism

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at former Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer after the Netherlands international said that it was a 'pity' that Marcus Rashford was playing under Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Rashford scored twice in United's 2-1 win over Liverpool last weekend as his side extended their lead over Liverpool to four points in second place. Mourinho highlighted de Boer's comments in his pre-match press conference before Tuesday's Champions League tie with Sevilla and said that the former Ajax boss was the worst manager to ever coach in the league. "I read some quote from the worst manager in the history of the Premier League, Frank de Boer - seven matches, seven defeats, zero goals," said Mourinho in reference to De Boer's unsuccessful spell in charge of Crystal Palace earlier this season. "He was saying that it is not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me, because the most important thing for me is to win. "If he was coached by Frank, he would learn how to lose because he lost every game." Mourinho also took aim at the club's fans after the Liverpool game as sections of United fans jeered midfielder Scott McTominay for trying to slow the game down and Mourinho for substituting Rashford with midfielder Marouane Fellaini. "I’m not upset with the fans about Rashford," Mourinho said after the match. "I’m upset with the fans against McTominay. The kid made all the right decisions and they wanted him to make all the wrong decisions."
