Jose Mourinho escapes punishment after FA charge for conduct against Newcastle

He will not face any punishment.

José Mourinho will not face any punishment from the FA after it failed to prove that he swore in Portuguese during Manchester United's win over Newcastle United. Mourinho's side went 2-0 down to Newcastle on 6th October, but turned things around with a miraculous second half comeback. Goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sánchez secured all three points for United after a first half that seemed to signal the end of Mourinho's reign at Old Trafford. The FA charged Mourinho after the game for using foul language during the game, but the manager has escaped any punishment after the governing body's charge could not be proved. A statement from the FA read: "A charge against Jose Mourinho for allegedly using language which was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper has been found not proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today. "It related to an incident at the end of the Manchester United versus Newcastle United game on 6 October 2018. "Written reasons for the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission will be published in due course. This decision is subject to appeal." We can expect to read the full written reasons of the findings next week, when the FA's disciplinary department will have the right to appeal the decision.
