Joe Hart’s Manchester City future is assured, despite Euro 2016 blunders

Some better news for Joe Hart.

24 hours on from his blunder against Iceland, there's not all that much for the Manchester City stopper to smile about. Just over a week from letting a Gareth Bale free-kick squirm underneath his hand, history repeated itself with what proved to be Iceland's winner in Nice. Credit where it's due, he took it like a man... Now, with England's Euro 2016 coming to an earlier-than-expected end, some had expected Hart's time at Manchester City to come to an end. Pep Guardiola is due to start work in Manchester in the coming days and paper talk has already seen Barcelona's Marc Andre Ter Stegen linked with taking his spot between City's sticks. According to the Manchester Evening News, City are expected to bring in a new keeper, although this is likely to be because of the uncertain future of Willy Caballero - Hart's deputy. Added to that, the report adds that Hart will remain as City's number one, with a couple of errors with his national team not enough to see him demoted or heading for the exit door. The fact that he also counts as a home-grown player is also understood to have worked in his favour.
