Clive Tyldesley is no longer ITV's senior football commentator after spending 22 years in the role. He will be replaced by Sam Matterface. Tyldesley will stay with the broadcaster to work as a commentator but will not take the lead on the biggest games as he has done for so long. The 65-year-old has soundtracked some of the biggest moments in football across the years, including the famous 1999 Champions League final that secured Manchester United's historic treble. Tyldesley tweeted a video this morning, clarifying that it was ITV's decision to relegate him from the top spot and that he has had three weeks to get his head around the news, but that he "hasn't got his head around it." "I'm upset, annoyed. I would have been trusted with commentating on the Euro 2020 final for them less than 48 hours ago," he said. "But now I won't be commentating on any of the big England games in the coming year, and I'm going to miss them. “I don’t know why I’m being replaced.
