A La Liga clash briefly turned into a scene from Vinnie Jones' Mean Machine the other night.
Valencia’s Champions League hopes took a huge blow on Thursday after sharing the spoils of a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.
Things turned sour in the match in an incident that saw Valencia striker receive his marching orders.
The Brazilian tried to contest for a high ball in the box when Rayo goalkeeper Tono rushed out and appeared to deliberately punch him two times in quick succession.
A vexed Rodrigo retaliated by sticking his leg out and tripping the shot-stopper, who proceeded to roll around the turf as if he were in agony.
Rodrigo received a red card for his part in the incident, while Tono got away scot-free. While Rodrigo's reaction was far from commendable, he might have the right to feel aggrieved that no action was taken against the other guilty party.
