De Maiziere's comments suggest that the game was cancelled by way of a precaution, which would obviously be the preferred outcome.
"The indications of danger at today's game grew over the course of the evening so much so that we urgently recommended the cancellation of the game," he added. "The game going on would have be irresponsible."
De Maiziere also confirmed that images of individuals being arrested near the ground were false, with no suspects taken in for questioning:
