Gary Lineker makes interesting Evan Ferguson suggestion as he scores on Premier League opening day

Evan Ferguson has picked up from where he left off last season with a goal in his first match of this Premier League campaign. Ferguson, the 18-year-old from county Meath, was held in reserve by Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi in their first game of the season against Luton Town. Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck started ahead of him up top but, don't get used to that, with the two lads missing a string of chances throughout a game that Brighton dominated, Ferguson came on late on to show them how it's done. First, just after his 78th minute introduction, the Republic of Ireland international turned the Luton Town defence inside out before curling what was almost a wonder-goal off the post. He'd fired the warning, and then he fired the goal a couple of minutes later. Brighton were running riot at this stage, coping just fine without their midfield duo of Caicedo and MacAllister from last season and with Pervis Estupinan breaking down the left, Ferguson ghosted into the box. He slid onto the Ecuadorian's perfect delivery to seal a 4-1 win for Brighton, against a Luton team who were given quite the baptism of fire in the top flight. Afterwards, Gary Lineker, a man who knows a thing or two about scoring goals hailed Ferguson and nudged Tottenham. Lineker, a former Spurs striker himself, dubbed Ferguson a 'born goalscorer' and says that if he 'was in charge of recruitment at Spurs,' that he'd 'take a punt on him as Kane's replacement.' https://twitter.com/GaryLineker/status/1690391908370018304 Brighton and Hove Albion fans would certainly have a thing or two to say about that.
