FAI hatch new initiative for Ireland ticket allocation and it actually makes sense

The FAI CEO has created a new scheme aimed at making amends with fans who were unhappy with the way that the FAI allocated the 3,500 tickets given to them by the SFA for Ireland's Euro 2016 qualifier with Scotland last weekend. The new initiative, Fans Direct, will work by awarding tickets to fans based on their previous attendance record at games. A statement said from the FAI said: “This system is intended to serve the needs of supporters during the remaining Euro 2016 campaign, anticipating that some countries have moved from providing 10pc stadium allocations to 5pc allocations.” The scheme “will provide a route for independent supporters to apply directly and be considered within this group for away match tickets”. The association are in great form altogether after receiving €1.2m from the Department of Tourism and Sport yesterday which will be pumped into the domestic game in the form of grants to Turners Cross, Eamonn Deacy Park, Mayfield FC, Clones Town, Westport United and the Kerry and District League.
