Everyone is talking about Sergio Aguero’s elbow – but could he miss the Manchester derby anyway?

Sergio Aguero has been the talk of Manchester ever since he appeared to throw an elbow at Winston Reid's face on Sunday.

Manchester City beat West Ham 3-1 but 15 minutes before the end of the match there was controversy when Aguero got into a tussle with Hammers defender Reid and appeared to elbow him in the throat. Referee Andre Marriner apparently didn't see the incident and took no action, but speculation immediately started as to whether the Football Association would look to punish Aguero retrospectively. If so, it could mean a match ban - which could mean that City's No 1 goal-getter would miss their next match: the Manchester derby. This year the derby comes with the added spice of Pep Guardiola vs Jose Mourinho, who took charge of City and United respectively this summer, and have a rivalry every inch as bitter as the one enjoyed by fans of the two clubs. If it is correct it could simply be a case of Aguero sitting out these international matches to ensure he is fit for the derby game, or it could be something more serious.
