Aston Villa's hopes of a Premier League were given a major boost shortly before the hour mark at Wembley
As far as goalkeeping errors go, the one Kelle Roos produced on Monday was by no means the worst seen at Wembley over the Bank Holiday weekend. It was, however, considerably more costly.
Whereas Charlton Athletic recovered from the nightmare opener they conceded to Sunderland in the League One Play-Off Final on Sunday, Roos' blunder for Derby County left Frank Lampard's side with a mountain to climb against Aston Villa little over 24 hours later.
Already trailing to Anwar El Ghazi's opener shortly before the half-time interval, Derby fell two goals behind just before the hour mark as Roos failed to gather a deflected shot.
The ball looping high into the area, Roos' failure to either catch or punch the ball to safety saw John McGinn nod the ball into the goal.

The goal put Villa, who lost out to Fulham during last year's Championship Play-Off final, on the brink of a top flight return after a three-year absence.
Though Jack Marriott halved the deficit with ten minutes remaining, Villa were able to hang on to their advantage.
