Who did New York City play in their first ever game? The answer, of course , is Scottish giants St Mirren.
The new MLS franchise - minus Frank Lampard - began life as a football club with a 2-0 win over the Scottish Premiership side (why they picked St Mirren is anyone's guess), and it all went swimmingly, with one of their marquee players David Villa opening the scoring.
The game was played at Man City's swanky Etihad Campus, with Villa netting in the first half before the less marquee Tony Taylor scored after the break to leave them with a 100 percent record since their existence. Some achievement!
They continue their pre-season preparations with another friendly against Brondby in Denmark, before starting their first MLS season (minus Mr Lampard) next month.
