After Manchester United supporters wrote to the club requesting a testimonial for Wayne Rooney, the club captain confirmed that a date had been set for the event via his Instagram account.

Although many of the finer details of the game are yet to be announced, the game promises to see a host of the game's stars descend on Old Trafford. And according to a report in The Daily Star, Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to feature in the game after Rooney called his former teammate with an invitation to play. The involvement of Ronaldo is sure to guarantee a sell-out crowd at the event, which takes place on August 3, 2016.
