Claudio Ranieri sounded in awe of Liverpool following Leicester’s defeat

Less than a month into the defence of their Premier League title, and Leicester City already lost twice.

The Foxes only lost three times in the league last season, and none in the manner of Saturday's defeat to Liverpool. Claudio Ranieri's side were blown away by a rampant Liverpool performance, losing 4-1 at Anfield thanks to two goals from Roberto Firmino, and a goal each from Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana. "Liverpool played better than us and they deserved to win. We were waiting for this type of football, very aggressive. "We were okay after the first 10 minutes before they scored the goal, but after that we lose everything. We lost the first ball, the second ball. They were unstoppable. "They deserved to win because they created so many more chances than us."

Leicester get their Champions League campaign underway on Wednesday away to Club Brugge, but won't have Liverpool midfielder Lucas to set-up another goal for the team. The Brazilian, covering in central defence, lost control of the ball in his own penalty area and stabbed a loose pass back across the six-yard box when put under pressure by Shinji Okazaki. Jamie Vardy was there to score a tap-in and make it 2-1. Following the game, Lucas could look at the funny side of his error, joking that it was his first assist in a very long time.
