Chris Forrester has found himself a new club

Chris Forrester's stint at Peterborough United has come to an end.

Irishman Chris Forrester once drew comparisons with Michael Carrick. However, things didn't end so well for him at Peterborough United. Forrester made 127 appearances for the club and wore the captain's armband for the 2016/2017 season. After signing from St Patrick's Athletic, he became a fan-favourite for his penchant for scoring amazing goals and won the Player’s Player of the Year award in his debut season. However, a disappointing run in League One this year saw him placed on the transfer list. He was seen as surplus to requirements. But Peterborough United's loss is Aberdeen's gain. It was announced on Tuesday that the 25-year-old signed a long-term contract at the Scottish Premiership club. Both teams agreed on an undisclosed fee for the midfielder. On paper, it seems like a great move for the former Bohemians man. Aberdeen finished in second place in the Scottish top flight last season. They manage to pip Rangers to the runners-up spot by three points. He will also join a strong Irish contingent at the club with Anthony O'Connor, Adam Rooney and Danny Rogers in the first-team squad.

Fresh start

Speaking to Aberdeen's RED TV, Forrester was very honest about his reasons for making the move.

"As soon as my agent told me about interest in Aberdeen, I knew that I needed a fresh start from Peterborough. Things didn't go so well last season. So As soon as Aberdeen came in, I knew the stature of the club that they get over 15,000 to most games each week. I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was thrilled to secure a player he has long admired.

"Chris is a player who has always caught my eye. He can play in a variety of positions, but he handles the ball extremely well and he will bring us flexibility in the midfield area." "We’ve been aware of him for a while and hopefully he sees Aberdeen as an opportunity to give impetus to his career. I’m delighted to welcome him to the club."
