Not content with transforming Manchester City into one of the finest football clubs in the land, it seems the Abu Dhabi royals have now set their sights on splashing a few hundred million on Liverpool.

Eight years on from Sheikh Mansour's arrival in Manchester, another family member is plotting a move for the Merseysiders, with £700m put aside to complete the deal. The story comes exclusively from the Daily Star (make of that what you will), who revealed a few weeks ago that talks had started over a proposed sale of the club. GettyImages-521195410 The exact identity of the person involved is said to remain a 'closely guarded secret', but The Star point out that Sheikh Khalifa, president of the United Arab Emirates, is a likely candidate. With an estimated worth of over £30bn, he is said to be even richer than City's owner (his half-brother), and there are no rules to say such a club can't be taken over by the relation of another club's owners.
