The 40-year-old former striker was spent the night at a clinic in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Buenos Aires after suffering from chest pains.
The Argentine was reportedly due to undergo more tests on Wednesday at a nearby hospital.
Currently the manager of Argentine giants Independiente, Tevez's club released a statement saying: "Our coach, Carlos Tevez, went to the La Trinidad Hospital in San Isidro with chest pain.
"They carried out the corresponding tests and they were satisfactory. Today he will continue with a series of tests scheduled in advance as part of a general check-up."
A further statement from Independiente added: “Carlos Tevez will be hospitalised as a precaution until the corresponding tests are completed.”
As well as playing for both Manchester clubs, Tevez also had stints at West Ham United, Juventus, Shanghai Shenhua, Corinthians and Boca Juniors.
During his time in the Premier League, Tevez made 201 appearances, scoring 84 goals and assisting 36.
Following his retirement as a player in 2022, Tevez was appointed as head coach of Argentine Primera División side Rosario Central, where he resigned after just five months in charge.
In August 2023, Tevez became the manager of Independiente. He signed a contract extension in December, however, stoked fears he may walk away from the job after suspending a press conference following his team's national cup exit earlier this month.
Independiente currently sit 6th in the Argentine Primera Division and are set to return to action on May 12 when they take on Talleres Cordoba.
It is unclear whether Tevez will be available to take charge of the game.
