Jose Mourinho says there are still players at Manchester United that he wanted sold when he was at the club.
Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford for just over two years, winning a League Cup and a Europa League trophy in his tenure.
Fractured relations with the hierarchy and a dip in performances eventually led to his sacking but the Portuguese man felt he lacked support from the board and even suggested that Erik ten Hag has more available to him that what he did.
He even said that there are still members of the first team squad at the club that he didn't want almost four years ago.
"I am who I am. I am a football man. Ed comes from a different background and what Ten Hag has in his time at Manchester United I didn’t have," he told The Telegraph.
"I didn’t have that level of support. I didn’t have that level of trust. So I left sad, because I felt I was in the beginning of the process. In some moments, I felt if they trusted me and believed in my experience things could be different.
"There are still a couple of players still there I didn’t want five or six years ago. I think they represent a little bit what I consider not the best professional profile to a club of a certain dimension."
Mourinho didn't specify which players he was talking about, though only six senior players remain from his time in charge. They are Victor Lindelof, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay. We'll let you jump to your own conclusions.
Despite the way his time at the club ended, Mourinho said that he remained on good terms with the club and wants them to succeed going forward.
"I did my job there. Time always tells the truth. I would love Manchester United to succeed," he added.
United reached the final of the FA Cup on Sunday after beating Coventry City on penalties.
The Red Devils were 3-0 up before the hour mark before Coventry fought back to equalise in stoppage time and come within a whisker of causing a major cup upset.
