An arrest warrant has been issued for Fernando Forestieri, the Sheffield Wednesday striker.
Forestieri had been due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Friday after he was charged with using threatening words and behaviour and racially aggravated harassment on July 24, the court said. The charges relate to a brawl following a friendly match with Mansfield Town which formed part of Wednesday's preseason.
However, the 28-year-old failed to attend court, prompting a warrant without bail to be issued.
Sheffield Wednesday are aware of the situation but have made it known that they will not be commenting on it for the time being.
The Argentina-born striker, who is an Italian citizen, last played for his club in a 4-2 defeat by Blackburn Rovers in the Championship on December 1.
