Damien Duff was shown a red card after the final whistle of Shelbourne's 1-0 loss to St Patrick's Athletic in the League of Ireland.

Not unusually, emotions ran high for the former Republic of Ireland winger throughout the game, with a couple of refereeing decisions in particular appearing to irk him. The final result will have irked him even more and, with Duff's frustration going down a treat with the Richmond Park faithful, it all boiled over after the game. They jeered him at full-time only for the Ballyboden man to respond with what appeared to be a replication of the famous Bras d'honneur gesture. Paul Pogba famously celebrated a French goal the same way in 2016, with a gesture which roughly translates to 'f*ck you,' and the misdemeanour will now lead to a touch-line ban for the 44-year-old. Jake Mulraney's free-kick was the match winner for Jon Daly's side, with Duff praising the midfielder after the game. "Hats off to them. Good three points for Jon," said Duff on LOI TV. "A great free-kick for Jake Mulraney, he's a game-changer, and that's why they moved heaven and earth to get him in the club so yeah, as good as we were, they came away with the three points." "It was as good a performance as you'll see at Richmond Park from a Shelbourne team but unfortunately we haven't got anything from the game." https://twitter.com/donalburke10/status/1672352711491170306 Duff's Shelbourne side now sit in sixth in the table, five points behind Dundalk in fifth and eight behind St Patrick's Athletic who are in third place.
