Only last month we were lauding Bakkies Botha for the nonchalant manner in which he got on with life after breaking his nose against Leicester Tigers.

Well, the Toulon lock has been in the wars again. Botha suffered a badly fractured finger during his team’s 32-23 victory over Racing Métro at Stade Mayol. The digit damage occurred after 31 minutes, with Toulon leading 22-3.

Botha looked like a man without a care in the world as he sauntered off for treatment. As a bone was exposed to the elements, in sustaining the injury, the South African was forced off. In the old days…
