A fine imposed on Australia’s Kurtley Beale will go towards the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team, it was announced today.

The Australian Rugby Union revealed that the money will be used to help fund the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team’s ‘Stronga Sistas’ programme.

The ARU describe ‘Strong Sistas’ as a system that uses “rugby as an avenue to work with young women to learn about stronger bodies and stronger minds.”

Beale was found guilty of a breach of the ARU Code of Conduct after sending an offensive image relating to former team business manager Di Patston on 9 June 2014.

Beale showed contrition for his error when he spoke at the weekend, saying: “I’ll be doing everything I can to redeem myself in that way. It’s important to accept what you did and try to do everything you can to make up for it, and learn from it. I feel like I’m on that track.”
