Shane Delahunt’s ridiculous offload sets up brilliant Niyi Adeolokun try

Jack O'Toole

Take a bow Shane Delahunt.

New Zealand hooker Dane Coles and South African rake Malcolm Marx have both earned rave reviews over the last few years for possessing skills that you would usually not associate with front-rowers, and while Delahunt would do well to be considered in the same breath as those two players, his offload to set up a second-half try for Connacht winger Niyi Adeolokun was about as good as any that you’ll see this season.

Centre Tom Farrell did tremendously well to create the initial break and after a quick recycle and a nice tip on pass from Bundee Aki, Delahunt flicked the ball out of the back of his hand to a striding Adeolokun who raced clear of the Leinster defence to score.

The Ireland international opened the scoring after five minutes before full-back Tiernan O’Halloran grabbed Connacht’s second try of the afternoon a shortwhile later when he picked off a James Lowe pass to run in under the posts.

Two tries from Kieran Marmion either side of half-time set up a comfortable lead for Connacht with Adeolokun’s second score the pick of a very impressive bunch at the Sportsgrounds.
