Connacht's Bundee Aki faces up to 10 weeks on the sidelines after an MRI confirmed he needs ankle surgery.
Aki picked up the injury towards the end of Connacht's 16-13 defeat to Edinburgh at the Sportsground on Friday night, and after a scan and consultation with a surgeon, it's been confirmed the 24-year old needs to go under the knife to correct the problem.
He's now looking at the possibility of up to 10 weeks out, meaning he'll miss Connacht's final Challenge Cup pool games, as well as up to five Pro 12 games, including the crucial games against Munster and the Scarlets.
Aki has proved to be a big hit with the fans since his switch to Galway from Super Rugby's Chiefs in the summer, and will surely be a big blow to Connacht's top six ambitions.
