Wrestler CM Punk has joined the UFC, but could these MMA stars make it in the WWE?

The UFC fighters with the mic skills to make it in pro wrestling

Darragh Murphy

There are countless important elements to the fight game – discipline, talent, athleticism, etc. But one that is often forgotten is the art of cutting a good promo.

CM Punk UFC

Promos sell fights new UFC signing CM Punk was a master of the art as a professional wrestler. But there are a few notable MMA fighters who have also perfected the skill of talking to the point that a call from WWE supremo Vince McMahon would not be too far-fetched.

Conor McGregor

Who else but our very own featherweight phenomenon. “The Notorious” is one of the most loquacious fighters on the UFC roster and we think that the Dubliner could main event any Wrestlemania.

And we’re sure he’d push for it to take place on Irish soil.

“I don’t just knock them out, I pick the round.”

Chael Sonnen

The now retired Chael Sonnen was flying somewhat under the radar in the middleweight division before he realised the undeniable value of selling a fight. He soon found himself on the receiving end of two title fights against Anderson Silva.

“The American Gangster” pushed for a rematch after a late submission loss to Anderson the first time around and earned the fight almost solely based on his mic technique.

Sonnen also recently revealed that he was, in fact, offered $5million by Vince McMahon to join the WWE but he stayed loyal to his UFC contract.

“Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck!”

Ronda Rousey

Vince McMahon loves a good Diva and Ronda Rousey would be one of the faces of the WWE if she made the move from sports to sports entertainment.

Her pretty face is deceiving, though. Rousey is vicious and has the best mean-mug in the entire sport of MMA, especially if Miesha Tate is somehow involved.

Nick Diaz

Diaz would be that heel that you just can’t help but love every time he comes on the screen.

The bad boy from Stockton makes you look forward to seeing a fight more than anyone.

“Where you at Georges?”

Rampage Jackson

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has dipped his toe into the world of professional wrestling with some brief appearances for TNA as part of his Bellator deal.

The light heavyweight legend has everything it takes to make it as a wrestler – the memorable walkout, the nickname and the ability to captivate an audience on the microphone.

“There’s gonna be some black on black crime!”

Michael Bisping

What Conor McGregor has been doing this past 18 months, Michael “The Count” Bisping has been doing since 2006.

He’s a genius on the mic and he’s made a career out of forcing the American fans to hate his very English guts.

Tito Ortiz

Tito Ortiz is a guy who’s relentless in his pre-fight trash talk.

He took fights with an aging, fading Ken Shamrock that Tito was never going to lose and turned them into must-see bouts.

Josh Koscheck

Nobody relished the role of villain more than TUF vet Josh Koscheck.

He pissed off crowds like Triple H could only dream of when building up to the title fight with fan favourite Georges St-Pierre.
